X-Tough Drag
X-Tough Drag features dramatically enhanced smoothness, control and toughness to anticipate the vigorous speed of bluefin tuna and giant trevally. X-Tough Drag further improves heat resistance and durability with construction that incorporates metal-only drag washers and abrasion-resistant carbon washers as well increased stability by supporting the spool from both the top and bottom.
XX TOUGH DRAG
Each washer is made of metal and carbon. Larger diameter drag washers have been installed on both the top and bottom sides of the spool. As a result, smooth and stable drag performance has been enhanced by improving heat resistance and durability.
X-Shield
By providing dependable sealing structures and gaskets at 12 critical locations throughout the reel body, Shimano is able to create a water-resistant structure that is highly reliable and durable while ensuring that it can hold up when used in extreme saltwater conditions.
X PROTECT
X PROTECT provides high-level water resistance to the inside bearing of drive gear shaft with waterproof construction.
X-Drag
It's all about leverage: Shimano repositioned the reel handle closer to the body to increase cranking leverage, rigidity and torque. This also creates less side-to-side tilt when anglers are either fighting a big bass, working a big crankbait down deep, or throwing extra large baits to bass, muskie, striped bass, redfish and calicos.

This product is made of functional fabric processed to protect from wind. Even on windy days, cold wind is less likely to penetrate into the garment, and high heat retention is achieved.
VBS Baitcasting
VBS uses centrifugal force, rather than magnets, to aid in controlling the cast. When turned on, the individual brake weights are forced outward at the beginning of the cast — when backlashes most often occur — to create friction that reduces the speed of the spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure with which the brake weights contact the raceway lessens and allows the spool to continue spinning.
