Expanding the trusted Sahara lineup, Shimano’s first Sahara Rear Drag reel adds Fightin’ Drag II to give anglers quick, intuitive control over drag pressure while fighting fish. The rear-mounted system allows on-the-fly adjustment without changing hand position, improving line protection and fish-fighting confidence. Shimano’s Propulsion Line Management System promotes longer, cleaner casts with fewer line issues, maintaining the smooth, reliable performance expected from the Sahara name. Designed for anglers who prefer rear-drag ergonomics, Sahara R reels deliver versatile spinning capability across freshwater applications.

Propulsion Line Management System

The most obvious component of the Propulsion Line Management System is the new Propulsion Spool Lip design. Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations, Shimano’s new spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while also preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming.

Fightin Drag

Shimano Fightin' Drag offers adjustable drag on the fly when reeling in fish. Utilizing an easy-to-adjust lever, the drag can be switched between a low drag setting before hooking the fish and quickly transitioned during the fight.
