Overview

Built as a tool for creating the proper jig action, Slow Jigging rods load more parabolically than conventional jigging rods, to give the angler greater control over the movement of the jig. Shimano designed the new Game Type Slow J rods to fish with lighter PowerPro and leader to ensure a fluid connection between rod movements and the jig. Game Type Slow J rods utilize Shimano’s highest performing rod blank technologies — Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X — integrated on ultra-parabolic blanks to optimize performance. Available in three slow-pitch jigging models, the new Game Type Slow J rods feature heavy-duty CI4+ grips for enhanced sensitivity and performance while providing all-day jigging comfort. Whether fishing deep with heavy jigs or shallow with a delicate presentation, there is no equal for targeting both pelagic and reef fish than that of Shimano’s flagship series of jigging tackle.

Hi-Power X

Hi-Power X construction uses diagonally-wrapped carbon tape to form an array of "X" shapes on the rod blank's outermost layer. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. This manufacturing process allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control for the angler.

Spiral X Core

Spiral X Core is Shimano's newest and most advanced blank construction technology. By integrating Spiral X carbon tape construction with Toray Nanoalloy® technology, Spiral X Core constructed blanks benefit from up to 10% more torsional rigidity and up to 15% more compressional rigidity than rods built with Spiral X. Shimano is unique to the market by applying by high-strength carbon tape with this unique and patented Spiral X construction.
