The "Micro Module Gear" is a gear system that combines extremely small, precision gears with an intricate body housing to achieve an unprecedentedly "silky" winding feel. By increasing the number of meshing teeth, a smooth feel is achieved without sacrificing strength.

The size of a gear's teeth is measured in a unit called "module." A smaller module reduces gear vibration and noise, significantly improving rotational smoothness. However, miniaturizing the module requires high precision in both components and assembly. Shimano's "Micro Module Gear" successfully miniaturizes the modules of the pinion gear and drive gear—the heart of the reel—to the absolute minimum while maintaining strength and durability. This has resulted in a new mechanism with approximately twice the number of teeth compared to our conventional products. This gear system is only possible because of Shimano's long history of dedicating itself to gear development.

Compared to our conventional products, it significantly reduces noise such as rumble and roughness during winding. In addition, by increasing the number of meshing teeth, it approaches vibration frequencies that exceed the limits of human tactile perception. As a result, it boasts a "silky smooth winding feel" like you've never experienced before. Furthermore, by increasing the number of meshing teeth, which are ultra-small, densely packed, the load on the gears is distributed, and this Shimano-exclusive gear system achieves a smooth feeling without sacrificing strength.
