JET BOOST

Jet Boost Weight Transfer Concept

The weight transfer system improves casting distance and enables quicker swimming start.

Shimano's "Jet Boost" is a weight transfer mechanism that achieves both stable long casts and quick lure action. It supports anglers as a long-casting lure that catches fish regardless of their skill level.

The time lag in weight recovery delays the lure's initial swimming action.

Many lures are equipped with a "weight transfer mechanism" to increase casting distance. When casting, the weight moves to the rear of the lure, allowing it to be cast further. During retrieval, the weight returns to the front, resulting in a natural swimming action. However, because the weight is at the rear upon landing, the lure will not take action immediately even if retrieval begins. Lures with lips, such as minnows, will move their weight forward as retrieval begins, but the action is slightly delayed. Lures without lips, such as sinking pencils and squid jigs, may not return to the front efficiently, resulting in an unnatural swimming action that can spook fish.

Weight Recovery Time Lag Challenge
Spring Loaded Weight Flight Stability

The aircraft achieves stable flight distance by shifting weights during flight.

Shimano developed "Jet Boost" by thoroughly examining three elements: initial velocity during casting, stability of flight posture and direction, and a smooth start of swimming after landing. The weight transfer system inside the lure is supported by a through-shaft and spring. During casting, the weight moves to the rear to increase initial velocity, and during flight, the weight automatically returns to the front due to the force of the internal spring, allowing the lure to fly further in a stable posture.

Immediately upon hitting the water, it demonstrates its true swimming ability.

"Jet Boost" uses spring force to return the weight to its precise position, allowing the lure to attract fish with natural movement immediately after hitting the water. Lipless plugs and sinking pencils swim smoothly from the start, and squid jigs sink in their natural posture. During retrieval, the spring firmly holds the weight in place, stabilizing the lure's movement and preventing unnecessary noise, effectively attracting fish without spooking them.

Instant Swim Start Action
Increased Catch and Performance

By combining long-distance casting with a fast swimming action, it becomes possible to reliably increase your catch.

"Jet Boost" is a technology that combines a weight transfer mechanism that offers both casting distance and action, with improved flight stability and quick start-up. It enables accurate long casts and creates a natural movement that immediately attracts fish after landing, contributing significantly to your fishing success.
