INFINITY CROSS
A gear system that delivers exceptional durability
The gears, the heart of the reel, are where Shimano's unique technological expertise, including cold forging, is most evident. Their performance is determined by the meticulous design of the gear teeth, the technical skill to realize it, and the gear structure that maximizes performance. Shimano's "Infinity Cross" succeeds in distributing the load on the gear teeth over a wider area, achieving overwhelming gear durability.
Gears wear down with continued use.
While reeling, the internal gears are constantly moving. The drive gear, which moves when you turn the handle, and the pinion gear, which moves the rotor, are considered the heart of the reel, and these gears are the parts that experience the most stress. However, with prolonged use, these gears gradually wear down, and the smoothness of reeling is lost.
Reduces the load on the gear tooth surface. Significantly improves durability.
Shimano has thoroughly researched technology to achieve smoothness while widening the contact surface of gear teeth. By advancing the design and manufacturing technology of gear teeth, the contact area between the drive gear and pinion gear has been increased. As a result, the load on the gear teeth is distributed over a wider area. This prevents concentrated damage and significantly improves durability compared to conventional designs*. Even anglers who fish frequently can maintain a smooth and powerful winding feel for a long period of time. Shimano gears and gear structures are constantly evolving.
