ARMA BOOST

Armaboost Foldable Body Concept

The foldable body makes it possible to challenge unknown fish.

Shimano's proprietary "ARMA BOOST" technology dramatically improves the casting distance and accuracy of big baits, which were previously considered difficult to cast far. Like an armadillo curling up, the lure folds in mid-air, resulting in significantly increased casting distance and highly precise control. Big baits can be cast further and more accurately, and their natural movement in the water is reproduced.

Big baits are difficult to cast far and accurately.

Big baits are lures primarily used for fishing for large fish, and are effective for many species, including bass and sea bass. However, while their size strongly appeals to target fish, their jointed structure creates significant wind resistance, making them difficult to cast long distances. Furthermore, their unstable posture during flight makes them prone to erratic trajectories, posing a challenge in accurately casting them to a target location.

Big Bait Wind Resistance Challenge
Bending Joint Mechanics

A big curve will make it fly! But new challenges arise.

Shimano first focused on the lure's joint section to improve the casting performance of big baits. By designing the joint section to bend significantly, it reduces wind resistance and allows for more stable casting. It also reduces backlash even in headwinds, allowing anglers to deliver the big bait to their target location in one go. However, because the lure bends too much, there were issues such as hooks getting tangled, the quality of the swimming action being affected, and sand getting into the joint section.

Features a "Petit Lock Mechanism" to prevent hook entanglement.

To prevent hook tangling, Shimano has meticulously designed the position of the lure's hook eye and the angle of the body. They have incorporated a new technology called the "Petit Lock Mechanism." This technology semi-fixes the hook to the lure, suppressing unnecessary movement during flight and retrieval. By deliberately limiting the range of motion of the hooks, tangling between hooks is prevented, improving usability. In addition, the hook automatically releases from the Petit Lock when a certain force is applied, increasing casting distance and reducing line tangling.

Magnetic Semi-Fixed Joint System

The combination of magnetic force and a semi-fixed design enables natural swimming.

The biggest challenge with big baits was that the wide range of motion in the joint section prevented them from naturally deflecting water resistance, resulting in unnatural movements. To solve this, Shimano utilized the power of magnets. A magnet was placed in the joint section in the center of the front body, and a special plate connecting to the center body was semi-fixed by magnetic force. As a result, the front body is firmly fixed, while the part behind the center body moves flexibly. This unique structure stabilizes the range of motion of the joint section, resulting in a natural and smooth lure movement. When casting, the magnetic lock is released and the lure folds, resulting in stable casting distance. With this innovative approach, the lure achieves the alluring movement inherent in big baits without sacrificing casting distance.

Adds casting distance and accuracy to big baits. You can now target spots you previously gave up on.

"Armor Joint" is a technology that aims for high perfection by not only being satisfied with casting performance, but also by thoroughly eliminating problems caused by excessive bending. It achieves long-distance casting performance and accuracy that overturns the conventional image of big baits and jointed baits.
